JOB DESCRIPTION

Metro is a multi-award winning organisation, and we pride ourselves on our team of honest, high performing professionals who are talented, inclusive and safety focused and who are at the core of our success. You will be joining an organisation that is known as a global leader in its field but also prides itself on being dynamic, embracing new technologies and focused on customer service. Our aim is to promote work/life balance, allow team members to bring their best to work and to truly be focused on a common goal which is to provide a world-class railway service.

We are currently looking for a dynamic Project Manager, to support the successful delivery of what will be one of the most iconic projects in Melbourne, the highly anticipated Melbourne Airport Rail (MAR) Project.

Reporting directly into the Project Director, this role will work closely with the MAR leadership team to ensure that effective processes and procedures are in place to effectively deliver this exciting project.

In this role you will engage with key stakeholders from MTM, the State and other organisations to resolve complex issues to meet our goals within the safety, time, cost and quality parameters determined for the Project.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Ensure that safety of the operating system, contractors, passengers and MTM employees is at the forefront of all negotiations, meetings and activities, and is not compromised during the project.
  • Work closely with the Project Director and the state to develop and implement the Melbourne Airport Rail (MAR) Project Management Plan and management structure/ways of working.
  • Lead the implementation of agreed business improvement initiatives for the MAR portfolio.
  • Lead the preparation of future proposals (and/or variations) for the MAR support package.
  • Define applicable aspects of Metro’s Project Management Framework (PMF) during the planning stage of the project to ensure the PMF is followed by the MAR portfolio.
  • Build and sustain lasting relationships with a network of key stakeholders internally and externally to resolve critical issues.
About You
  • You will have experience in complex projects including exposure to the different aspects of the project life cycle. Railway experience, while preferred, is not essential.
  • You will have excellent stakeholder management skills, and the confidence to engage with stakeholders with differing objectives and at all levels of seniority.
  • You will be ambitious, and be keen to develop your project management skills further.
  • Along with your Tertiary qualification in project management, engineering or equivalent, and commercial exposure, you will possess the ability to operate in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Your resilience and strength of character will be needed to influence, negotiate and deliver outcomes in line with MTM’s core values.
This is a fantastic and high profile opportunity to build on the career you have developed to date and be part of the legacy that ‘connects people and places for a growing Melbourne’.

If what you have read resonates with your values, experience and career aspiration then please submit your application by COB 22nd February 2021.

We will NOT be accepting any agency submissions during this time.

Metro Trains is an equal opportunity employer and embraces diversity. We encourage all interested applicants to apply but please do note only applications with the right to live and work in Australia will be considered for this position.
