About the roles

AMP have multiple Legal Counsel or Senior Legal Counsel roles in the Financial Service Legal Team which report into Head of Legal. These roles will engage with key stakeholders across the business and will provide legal support to one or more AMP business lines – Advice, Bank, Superannuation and Investments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working as part of a cross business, cross function team to support the successful delivery of key initiatives
  • Provision of commercially relevant legal advice to business areas including assessing legal risks and providing options.
  • Advising on new legislation and impacts to business lines.
  • Communicating regulatory changes to clients promptly and with good application.
  • Assist all areas of Legal as required to ensure smooth delivery of legal support across Financial Services.
  • Identifying and understanding the business strategies, priorities and goals and providing legal advice with these matters in mind.
  • Participate effectively in key business projects including identification and management of legal risks within those projects.

Capabilities & Experience

  • A current Practising Certificate
  • Post admission experience
  • Sound knowledge of the financial services industry and the legal and regulatory regime.
  • Deep experience of the laws and in dealing with the issues relating to one or more of the following areas:
    • Financial product advice, particularly by financial planners
    • Superannuation and wrap products
    • Banking
    • Investment products
  • Sound knowledge of recent legislative and regulatory changes within the Financial Services law regime
  • Experience in reviewing commercial and regulatory documents commonly used in the financial services industry
  • Sound knowledge of the obligations of Australian financial services licence holders
  • Experience in general commercial matters and agreements
  • Commercial and business acumen
