JOB DESCRIPTION
Melbourne Airport is looking for an Executive, Government & Public Relations to lead the Airport's external relations with a view to protect and promote corporate reputation, brand recognition, as well as further enhance corporate responsibility through effective external communication, regulatory and stakeholder relationships.
The role will be responsible for proactively shaping the regulatory climate affecting airports to support the achievement of corporate strategic goals and leadership of external communications including media and issues management.
Reporting to the CEO, this leadership position will play an instrumental role from strategy development through to implementation with a key focus on Government Relations, at both a Federal and State level. Likewise, strategic engagement will also encompass industry associations and partners, community groups and businesses, together with issues and crisis management.
The successful candidate will advise the Executive Team on strategic issues management, establish and maintain relevant government and opposition stakeholder relationships. As well as support Launceston Airport in development of stakeholder engagement plans.
In addition, the role is also required to advise on governance and legislative framework obligations and existing and emerging risks, in order to support the continued operation of the organisation.
As a person of high interest, you will arrive with strong strategic yet practical approach across a complex and layered stakeholder matrix together with robust issues and crisis management experience, proactive public relations, and a strong counsel and advice at the most senior level.
You have strong commercial acumen and experience working in a complex, matrix environment. Excellent networking and business partnering skills with proven ability to influence across boundaries and across a broad range of cross-functional and external stakeholders will make you successful in this position. Flexible thinking, collaborative, and open-minded approach will be suitable in this position.
Tertiary qualification in Communications or public relations along with a minimum of 10 years' experience working with media, government and other external stakeholders is essential. Further, experience and an understanding of aviation, public transport or infrastructure will be highly favourable.
