The Project

The Early Works package involves performing services in two phases of planning and delivery, the majority of which comprise utility services under a Managing Contractor arrangement.

The Works associated with this role include the design, development and removal, relocation and/or protection of a substantial number of utility services including large and medium water utility assets, gas utility assets, and telecommunications and electrical utility assets. 

Construction on the Early Works package has commenced and is set to be completed in 2022.

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking applications from an experienced and motivated Project Manager OR Senior Project Engineer ready to step up, with strong civil/utilities experience to join our team. You will be responsible for delivering a project to time, cost, quality and compliance expectations. The role demands a strong focus on leadership to achieve required outcomes and the promotion of high-performance standards in accordance with the specified requirements and client expectations.

 As Project Manager, you will be accountable for:

  • Managing the effective set-up, delivery, and completion of the designated scope
  • Managing and monitoring the completion of work scope to ensure programme, budget, quality, environmental and contractual obligations are achieved and taking prompt corrective action where required
  • Promoting a positive safety culture in line with CPB values and behaviours
  • Leading and develop a team, providing clear direction to direct reports and promoting collaboration and communication within the team and across various disciplines across the project.
  • Monitor project progress against the programme and budget
  • Preparation of accurate project reports
  • Ensure the project is adequately resourced to deliver project requirements in line with the programme and contractual agreements

 Requirements for this role are

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 10 years’ demonstrated experience within the civil/utilities infrastructure sector
  • Detailed knowledge and demonstrated high level experience in project management, planning, budgeting, and cost control
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to interpret and apply contracts
  • High level decision making, negotiation and influencing skills
