Ku-ring-gai Council is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced payroll professional to join our People & Culture team.

Payroll Officer

  • Salary $70,218.20 - $81,452.21 p/a + super
  • Permanent full time role - 35 hours per week
  • Tertiary qualifications & experience essential
Located 16 kms north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 127,000 residents and is set in one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.

The Payroll Officer's role is to assist the Payroll Supervisor to coordinate and produce a timely and accurate payroll each week. This role requires a demonstrated ability to produce timely and accurate payroll data capture, analysis and design. Using Tech One's Core Enterprise Suite payroll module, the successful applicant will complete calculations, taxation, terminations, superannuation and reconciliations as required. Advanced MS Excel skills across formulas and VLookups will be essential for generating statistical analyses as well as accurate quarterly and ad hoc reporting.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Weekly payroll processing
  • Retrospective payment requests
  • Processing of all new starters, terminations and redundancies
  • Interpreting and updating records across variations to the Award
  • Leave management calculations, including maternity leave
  • Superannuation payments
  • Quarterly and adhoc reporting
Required experience & skills:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or extensive experience in payroll processing in a medium to large organisation
  • Demonstrated experience in the practical aspects of payroll systems
  • Ability to understand, interpret and provide advice on relevant Awards, Agreements and legislation
  • High attention to detail and time management skills.
Desirable experience & skills:
  • Background in Accounting
