The Role:

We have an exciting permanent part time opportunity (3 days a week) for a Community Engagement Advisor based at our newly refurbished Support Office in Hawthorn East. Our office is a thriving, supportive and a friendly workplace where you can collaborate with colleagues from a variety of business units.

As our Community Engagement Advisor, you will be responsible for managing effective engagement with communities and stakeholders to build sustainable and mutually beneficial relationships across the Benetas network. These relationships will result in increased engagement by Benetas clients with the local communities in which Benetas operates in line with the Benetas Next Generation Strategy 2025 and our strategic objective of creating ‘Communities of Choice’.

In addition, the role supports the delivery of the Benetas Customer Experience Vision and Principles, specifically the principle of nurturing meaningful connections for our customers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the Benetas Community Engagement Strategy and program of activities that supports the Next Generation Strategic 2025 objectives
  • Build employee engagement around what ‘Community Engagement’ looks like in Benetas
  • Collaborate with our Quality, Outcomes and Research team to establish Benetas’ first Consumer Participation Register (CPR)
  • Support our Residential Services team in the creation of a targeted and effective program of select community engagement activities
  • Communicate and liaise with sponsors, supporters, community, residents, clients and Benetas employees as required to achieve Community Engagement objectives
  • Participate in key community and Benetas functions to ensure community engagement opportunities are maximised

To be successful, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field, e.g. community engagement, community development, public relations, fundraising, business development, marketing or equivalent community engagement management experience
  • Sound knowledge of engagement methodology and strategies across the consumer participation spectrum (e.g. IAP2) and in implementing them effectively
  • The ability to liaise with external agencies and stakeholders to deliver tangible benefits for clients and the organisation
  • A demonstrated understanding of the perspectives of older people and the potential challenges and barriers to them to engage in meaningful participation
  • An ability to create genuine connections with stakeholders, communities, clients, families, employees and volunteers
  • Knowledge of and direct experience in working with local and regional services, businesses and groups (desirable but not mandatory)
