About the role
Mater Private Hospital Townsville is currently seeking a clinical professional who is passionate about infection control to join their team on a permanent full time basis.
This role aims to reduce the risk of patients acquiring preventable healthcare-associated infections. With effective infection prevention and control practices this can minimise the risk of infection transmission between patients, healthcare workers and others in the healthcare environment; they are an essential component of safe, quality health care.
What you’ll be doing
As the Infection Control Officer you will share your clinical expertise, direct support and education to staff, with a clear focus on infection control including patient experience, staff safety and quality of our services. This role will act as a resource for advanced clinical knowledge and evidence-based practices to promote the continued development of our clinical services and be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of infection control programs.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Relevant qualifications and Registration with AHPRA
- Completion or ability to complete Hand Hygiene Australia Gold Standard Auditor training workshop.
- A clinical background in a hospital setting.
- Demonstrated expert knowledge of relevant health legislation.
- Demonstrated expert knowledge of the quality cycle in the healthcare setting.
- Sound working knowledge of accreditation processes and requirements.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Infection Prevention and Control or equivalent and/or previous experience in a comparable position would be desirable.
