The Senior Adviser, Inclusive Education Support Program Will

  • Provide high level consultancy and assistance to preschool/school leaders and educators in understanding the reforms, specifically how to identify need, adjustments and interventions and how to document this information in a personalised plan.
  • Provide high level advice and support to site leaders, SSS leadership and Leadership Executive Teams regarding differentiation and personalised learning, including use of tools and frameworks (eg Level of Adjustment Matrix and Waves of Intervention) and how to apply for funding via the IESP’s online application form and process.
  • Deliver expert consultancy and support to preschool and school leaders regarding budgeting and accountability for IESP funds;
  • Provide specialist advice and support to preschool and school leadership and regional Leaders Executive Teams and Student Support Services staff to identify appropriate interventions and supports for children/students with high levels of complexity as well as those with learning/literacy difficulties and/or minor speech and language delays, collaborating, where necessary with the Complex Needs team, Literacy Guarantee, Special Education Resource Unit and local education office Student Support Services staff; and
  • Manage individual projects (i.e. lines of inquiry) which have come about as a result of the first 2 years of implementation of the new model. These projects and their outcomes are aimed at continuous improvement of the students with disability funding model.

Alignment of Senior Adviser’s work with other agency initiatives such as the School Improvement Model, Literacy Guarantee, NCCD and One Child initiatives is essential to ensure that ‘joined up’ services and consistent messaging during the rollout of the new funding model is achieved.

Essential Qualifications

An appropriate tertiary qualification in education

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold a current full teacher registration to teach in South Australia.

If not permanent with the Education Department, applicants must meet the department’s minimum employment requirements before taking up an appointment.

Minimum departmental employment requirements for teachers include recognised teaching qualifications and registration as a teacher in South Australia and, in addition, for all applicants who are not permanent teachers with the department will include an active on-line application in the Employable Teacher Register (ETR), a cleared Education Department Employment Declaration, Australian residency or current work permit, Reporting Abuse and Neglect training (previously known as Mandatory Notification), and an approved First Aid Certificate.

Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department of Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. A current DHS child-related employment screening will be recognised as a WWCC until it expires. The incumbent will be required to undertake Responding to Abuse & Neglect (RAN) full day/online training course every three years. STL3 - $127,921 per annum
