The Division

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan (ROM) division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director (North, South and West), Community & Place, the Senior Manager Finance and Project Controls is a critical finance reporting leadership role embedded in the division and charged with successfully managing change, creating and establishing consistent, efficient process, systems and reporting benchmarks. In this role you will lead the development and delivery of Branch financial management, project controls, reporting, forecasting, variance analysis, budgeting process and governance processes, optimise the financial capabilities of the Branch in the delivery of business and community outcomes.

You will be essential to the successful assessment and delivery of a number of infrastructure projects, and to the further development of productive and collaborative relationships with a diverse stakeholder group across New South Wales.

These opportunities can be based in any of our locations across ROM, relevant to the North, South and West areas.

What You Will Be Involved In

  • Manage all financial analysis and reporting, to deliver best practice financial and budgetary management practices, frameworks, project performance analysis and reporting, ensuring innovative and global best practise solutions are provided.
  • With your team, manage the accurate and timely delivery of reporting of key milestones, project risk, commercial and budgetary matters, budgets, and forecasts by working closely with business managers and providing options and recommendations.
  • Lead governance processes to ensure that budget and/or agreed forecast targets are met by monitoring and reviewing revenue, expenditure, business performance measures, remedial actions, and benefits realisation of Branch activities. This may include provision of technical advice and support as well as best practice guidance.
  • Facilitate positive relationships with key stakeholders to contribute to the effectivity of the branch, modelling a ‘One Team’ culture and solutions-based approach across your team.
  • Manage the integrity of processes including the prevention, detection and correction of fraud or misappropriation by establishing and maintaining appropriate internal controls, promoting behaviour in accordance with best practice financial management standards and the policies, and monitoring effectiveness and compliance.

About You

You will be an experienced finance professional ideally with experience of interacting with Federal and State Government central reporting agencies and practices. You’ll possess demonstrable prior track record of managing change across an organisation with strong influencing skills, including developing and delivering new processes and the training to support them. Additionally, you will be comfortable leading and further developing a team to create an engaged and positive culture following a period of transformation. From a systems perspective, prior knowledge of Equip would be highly advantageous.
