Role Summary
Northern Trust Securities fast growing Brokerage business includes Integrated Trading Solutions. ITS allows clients to focus on alpha generation and “level” the playing field through access to significant economies of scale through our trading desks, via access to more execution venues, greater liquidity and a breadth of dealing expertise .
The Sales trader is the link between our trading desks and the buy side dealing desks. The primary role is to ensure business is executed with best execution. Best execution covers a variety of parameters including market intelligence, relevant news and information, client flow and liquidity opportunities but always with due care and diligence while maintaining open dialogue with the customer. You will be responsible for building and maintaining trading relationships and facilitating client orders to the trading desk. As the name implies, this role accordingly has two components: a revenue-oriented role to grow and develop client relationships for trading, and the coordination of trading activity from clients with the trade desk. Accordingly, your responsibilities will include selling brokerage services to new and existing trading relationships, positioning for future trade flow, facilitating trades from clients to the trade desk, and providing service to clients during and after trading.
What You Will Do
- Responsible for positioning brokerage services to new and existing clients.
- Proficient in NTS products and services.
- Discusses/introduces market commentary, trading thoughts or execution solutions with clients.
- Follows up on client questions and enquiries.
- Identifies ideas to enhance the customer experience or provide additional value to the relationship.
- Follows up with clients routinely, whether they have traded recently or not.
- Ensures trades are routed properly to the trading desk for execution.
- Solicits trades from clients.
- Coordinate with trading desk to execute client orders in line with their goals.
- Clearly outline with trading the unique needs of each client.
- Oversight of the client experience and escalation of any problems.
- Collate overnight news from the US and European markets noting moves in various asset classes to ascertain any read to our markets in APAC.
- Assists with the production of a morning note that incorporates all the relevant news overnight and in APAC that morning.
- Keep clients updated with market events, breaking news and price action.
- Back-up coverage of other sales trader’s accounts during their absence or during periods of high volume.
- Cross-sell other NT product where possible.
- Resolution of secondary needs or issues of clients, such as escalating client technology issues, sorting out failed trades, obtaining back office contacts, etc.
- Knowledge of investments and the financial markets, usually acquired by formal education or related work experience, is required to analyse data and make investment recommendations.
- Knowledge of financial analysis, basic statistics and accounting, usually acquired through formal education, is required to analyse and interpret investment data.
- Analytical and personal computer skills are needed to prepare analysis and reports.
- A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience for a financial industry
- Strong communication ability along with organizational, leadership, and management skills.
