Canberra Health Services (CHS) is focussed on the delivery of high quality, effective, person centred care. It provides acute, sub-acute, primary and community‐based health services, to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT)—a catchment of approximately 400,000 people. It also services the surrounding Southern New South Wales region which includes the Bega Valley, Bombala, Cooma-Monaro, Eurobodalla, Goulburn, Mulwaree, Palerang, Queanbeyan, Snowy River, Upper Lachlan Shire and the Yass Valley.
CHS administers a range publicly funded health facilities, programs and services including but not limited to:
The Canberra Hospital: a modern 600-bed tertiary hospital providing trauma services and most major medical and surgical sub-specialty services.
University of Canberra Hospital Specialist Centre for Rehabilitation, Recovery and Research: a dedicated and purpose-built rehabilitation facility, with 140 inpatient beds, 75-day places and additional outpatient services.
Four Walk-in Centres: which provide free treatment for minor illness and injury.
Six community health centres: providing a range of general and specialist health services to people of all ages.
A range of community-based health services including Early Childhood Services, Youth and Women’s Health, Dental Health, Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Services.
Overview of the work area and position
BreastScreen ACT is part of the BreastScreen Australia screening program. The service offers free breast screening to all women over 40 years in the ACT. The program has a target age group of women between 50 and 74 years.
BreastScreen ACT provides screening at three sites located in the Canberra city, Phillip and Belconnen Health Centres. All assessments are carried out at the Canberra city clinic.
Under broad direction, you will be responsible for the administration functions related to assessment and result clinics. Provide clerical duties for the Program Manager including processing of Program and VMO invoicing, manage travel arrangements.

These roles require the Ability to work varying start/finish times between 7.30am and 6.00pm to meet the operational requirements of the centre.
Prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to:
Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
Desirable:

Duties
Under general direction, provide administrative and general office support to ensure a high quality service to clinicians and customer focused services to patients and their carers.
Undertake duties as outlined in the relevant role descriptor in accordance with policies, procedures and training.
Attempt to resolve issues immediately in line with allocated duties and escalate to the team leader / administration manager where necessary.
Ensure a high level of customer service at all times, including presenting in a professional manner and handling all encounters professionally and politely following high quality customer service principles, practices and attributes.
Work in a collaborative and flexible manner with all staff members across the Canberra Region Cancer Centre to provide administrative support during hours of operation as directed.
Undertake all data entry with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Supervise, train and support colleagues as required.
Undertaking other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the section.

Well established computer experience including proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications and the ability to quickly learn new medically based programs.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and liaise professionally and effectively with a broad range of people and work as a group member in a team environment.
Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality and its use within a health environment.
Demonstrates a commitment to work, health and safety (WH&S) and the positive patient experience and displays behaviour consistent with Canberra Health Service’s values of Reliable, Progressive, Respectful and Kind.
