Job Description

5,500. This is the number of patients living with Ankylosing Spondylitis and these patients are on PBS medication each month, however, the patient journey can exceed 7.5 years before the right treatment is accessed.

In this role, you will have the ability to impact patient journey’s and open up access for AxSpa patients with speed and simplicity ensuring patients have access to the right medicine, at the right time, impacting their lives significantly. You will drive our sales team to deliver growth of our Biologic medication to unlock twice as many patients twice as fast.

As National Sales Manager, you will be responsible for growing market share in AxSpa and increase HCP advocacy. You will deliver on national sales targets for the product and look at high quality implementation of customer engagement plans and Novartis support services.

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Accountable for achieving own and team’s agreed sales, productivity and performance targets. This is achieved through creating and executing business plans to drive this achievement, and is responsible for brands’ strategic and tactical planning. Works independently to maintain existing clients and to develop new business opportunities.
  • Leads, coaches and develops the sales team to optimize performance & support product objectives
  • Leads a high-performing team of Account Specialists; hires, trains and develops them as necessary; provides coaching and feedback to the team.
  • Manages relationships with key accounts’ decision makers, Key Opinion leaders, patient associations; and other colleagues across business functions to achieve desired results.
  • Master product knowledge and disease area knowledge; and coach the team on the same. Gathers and is updated on required information regarding the market, key competitors’ market data, pricing intelligence, key accounts etc.
  • Complete all reporting and administrative requirements in a timely and accurate manner
  • Operates within Novartis compliance, policies and procedures; and creates a culture that ensures all reports, direct and indirect

Minimum requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Degree in life sciences/business or the equivalent combination of education & experience
  • Sales experience in the healthcare industry will be necessary. Experience in AxSpa, or similar, will be highly advantageous.
  • People management and experience with development and execution of business plans will critical to be successful in this role
  • Proven ability to understand technical, scientific and medical information along with Medicines Australia Code of Conduct accreditation
