About the Client
The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment works to protect and strengthen our agriculture, water resources, the environment and our heritage.

About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing communication plans and material to support projects in the Exports Standards Branch.

You will be part of the Trade Information Projects section. We support business areas to deliver improvements for exporters and producers of Australian agricultural products.

Duties include:
Developing a single, unifying communication strategy for current projects
Develop communication plans for specific projects and initiatives, including international
Liaise and consult with departmental communication and media teams
Prepare media releases, briefings, reports for distribution through appropriate communication channels
Editing a range of materials to conform to plain English and style guide
Bringing a trade and/or marketing perspective to what could otherwise be seen as business-as-usual communications
Provide communications advice to business.
About You
You are an enthusiastic, talkative and curious individual who loves telling a story verbally and in writing. It goes without saying that you can write well and can communicate in plain English. You will need to be able to understand technical issues and communicate them to non-technical audiences.

This is an interesting and varied role where you can perform at a high standard and show the worth of your craft.

Essential requirements:
communicate technical issues clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing
use initiative and judgement to deliver award-winning communication materials
work independently and as part of a team, subject to limited direction against established practices, to deliver work that requires little or no revision before finalisation
learn new concepts and processes quickly
ability to translate complex content into easy-to-understand products
develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders to achieve goals
prioritise work and meet deadlines
proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite
experience working in the public sector
a degree in communications, journalism or marketing.
Active membership of a professional association be well regarded.
