COMPANY

Have you ever wanted to rub shoulders or be proud of working at a company where leaders in the community develop? Having been around for 21 years, this company has grown through word of mouth and has predominately built with technical people. Having 110 staff with only 5 are non-technical with the directors being technical themselves! They plan to double in size, so they are looking for the best in the community to join who want to grow with us.

Here, your career streams are broken down into two directions, those being technical and commercial.

You can go down the people management route or if you prefer to be a senior engineer, without the expected pressure (that engineers have these days of leading a team) this is another path that you are provided.

People are provided with genuine freedom to learn with five days of offsite training paid per year. Some people like to collect certifications, and others prefer to attend conferences. They are not a churn and burn consultancy, as people don’t work outside of hours. As an individual, you are empowered to live your life.

ROLE

Reporting to the CEO and CTO, the Principal Engineer, you have a deep expertise related approaches and disciplines such as Agile, DevOps, and Software /Solution Architecture. You can communicate that to business-oriented stakeholders and clients in terms they understand. You work within and understand complex commercial relationships with clients and make decisions and/or recommendations based on their business needs.

YOU 

  • Can lead others in complex problem-solving tasks teaching them new skills in the process are capable of debugging problems which your team encounters
  • Can take ownership of complex streams of work. You can shape a solution and provide technical leadership to others by setting, review and influence architectural direction
  • Can document your deliverables in a manner that is understandable by and valuable to other developers/architects and support staff
  • Can build trust and respect with clients quickly at the highest levels, including CIO/CTO or appropriately senior stakeholders and the ability to distil ideas and concepts into diagrams and written language that is persuasive and accurate.
  • Can anticipate issues, communicate these properly to the relevant stakeholders, and make architectural/design decisions to avoid/resolve them
  • Can provide strong support for pre-sales and sales to existing and new clients
  • Actively learn and keeping abreast of the latest technologies, being able to determine areas in which projects, teams and clients should invest in
  • Can debug and solve problems in your code or others code as well as mentor less experienced engineers
