The Opportunity

The Procurement Business Partner is procurement's operational business partner and liaison point who collaborates with internal business customers to understand, triage and provide contract development and ongoing contract management services for short to medium term business requirements. Takes full responsibility for successful implementation of contracts and ongoing contract and business relationship management. Leveraging existing period agreements. The role manages the operation of the contracting cycle including the compilation, consolidation, distribution and evaluation of RFx documentation, contract negotiations and consolidation of commercial Terms and Conditions to achieve optimal value for money for the business and ongoing administration of contractual agreements to finalisation.

Working in close collaboration with the Category Management team and key business stakeholders the Procurement Business Partner ensures successful implementation of the strategic sourcing decisions.

While technical skillset and professional experience are important to the role, it is critical that the Procurement Business Partner has excellent stakeholder engagement skills, is a strong communicator and is passionate about delivering outcomes for the business.

The role of a Procurement Business Partner includes but is not limited to:

  • Procurement planning and stakeholder management
  • Market Engagement - sourcing
  • Contract Management
  • Support, develop and maintain databases for specifications, contract type, contract compliance, procurement plans, and Bills of Materials
  • Maintain the Supplier Management System database
  • Assist in the establishment of a Supplier knowledge base for use in projects across all locations
  • Manage the procurement cycle to achieve programmed deadlines
  • Assisting and supporting contract negotiations including maintaining appropriate contract, supplier and certification databases
  • Support monitoring and reporting of procurement waivers, breaches and off contract expenditure in collaboration with Category Managers to drive procurement compliance.

Skills & Experience

What we expect from you:

  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline and/or extensive appropriate experience in a capital-intensive industry
  • Proved ability to manage multiple projects/tasks effectively
  • Experience in contract administration and commercial management
  • Experience in the procurement, ideally project procurement for capital-intensive industries
  • Relevant systems ERP knowledge and solid personal computing skills (use of MS Office suite)
  • Prior exposure to and experience with managing procurement activity in line with Commercial Policies and Procedures, particularly Procurement Policy/Framework, Financial and Process Authorities and Codes of Practice
  • Previous experience with establishing complex supply contracts, working closely with legal and the business
  • Strong commercial negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to ensure alignment to business requirements and provision of ongoing and consistent updates to business customers
  • Professionalism and a strong work ethic
