About The Role

The P&C Specialist – Advisory Services p rovides comprehensive advice and support to Line Managers across all Coles' businesses on escalated workplace relations issues.

We are looking for a P&C HR Specialist to u ndertake workplace investigations into potential breaches of employment related policies and advise managers in supporting team members with long term, non-work related illness or injury.

Represent Coles in the early stages of litigation, such as at conciliations and conferences, in the Fair Work Commission and in the equal opportunity tribunals.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide coaching and guidance to line managers on complex employment related people matters to ensure a balanced commercial outcome is achieved
  • Assess/analyse workplace relations risk and exposure and make recommendations in relation to a broad range of team member issues including
    • unfair dismissal and general protections risks
    • sexual harassment, harassment, discrimination, or bullying claims
    • complex disputes involving performance management, misconduct, or illness/injuries
  • Be an advocate (up to conciliation stage) on behalf of Coles’ brands in employment tribunals such as the Fair Work Commission, Fair Work Ombudsman, AHRC and relevant state based equal opportunity commission.

Good things you'll need
  • Tertiary qualified in HR or Law and demonstrated strong performance as P&C Specialist - Workplace Relations/Employee Relations
  • Extensive experience in performance, conduct/behaviour and Equal Opportunity case management and conducting workplace investigations
  • A detailed working understanding of a full range of employment related legislation and proven ability to interpret and provide advice
  • A strong customer focus and the proven ability to clearly outline risk and make informed recommendations
  • Ability to provide accurate and timely advice in a fast-paced environment to minimise risk or other impacts on the business
  • Experience in conducting matters, eg. Conciliation Conferences within employment tribunals such as the Fair Work Commission and Equal Opportunity Commission and ability to be able to complete, file and serve all applicable documentation
