Since 1982, Wheatbelt Steel has been specialising in the design, fabrication and installation of quality steel sheds. Wheatbelt Steel joined the Ahrens Group in 2018 and continues to build sheds of the highest quality including machinery sheds, fertiliser sheds, grain sheds, hay sheds, shearing sheds and poultry sheds for farms across Western Australia.

About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Procurement & Detailing Coordinator to join our team at our Northam Office. The successful candidate will be hands-on and result driven to ensure cost effective purchasing of all materials and services as required by the business whilst anticipating future material availability. This role provides a wide range of experience and onsite training for further development.

Key Responsibilities of the role (but not limited to):

  • Directs all direct purchasing programs and implements order placement;
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures aligned to business requirements and related to purchasing and inventory control with a goal to maximise efficiency and optimise workflow;
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, prices and delivery conditions to anticipate future material availability;
  • Develops and maintains inventory databases for supplies and materials used and related audit programs;
  • Negotiates and completes formal arrangements with vendors for optimal cost and ongoing rebate programs, vendor consignment stock and direct delivery processes and cyclic replenishment;
  • Review contract & sales documentation and purchase orders to ensure compliance with businesses policies and targets;
  • Sourcing and engaging reliable vendors and both agreeing and monitoring service and price performance;
  • Prepare order sheets with quantities taken off or supplied;
  • Prepare load lists for dispatch;
  • Oversee and manage the Pronto ERP System in order to track shipments, inventory and the supply of goods / materials. Maintain and update TEEMS as required;
  • Communicate with vendors to resolve problems that may arise regarding delivery, quality, price or condition;
  • Track, measure and analyses business expenditure;
  • Provide reports for management;
  • Assigns jobs and checking of documentation;
  • Control and supervision of workflow production;
  • Establish deadline, goals and production standards;
  • Prepare and maintain QA documentation for procedures;
  • Assist with preparing costing variations to projects;
  • Assist Commercial Department as required.

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications;
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in a Purchasing, Ideally, experience within the steel and alloy fabrication industry;
  • Driver’s Licence;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite;
  • Industry knowledge and experience;
  • Willingness to learn;
  • Demonstrated imitative and organisational skills.
