An exciting opportunity exists for a VPS 4 Graphic Designer on an ongoing basis in Strategic Communications Group of the Department of Treasury and Finance.

The Strategic Communications Group is responsible for the Department's communications, including internal communications, publications, event management, public affairs, media liaison, speech writing, presentations, social media, video and websites. The group works directly with and services Ministerial Offices, as well as dealing with external stakeholders.

The role

The Graphic Design role will lead the full scope of the Department's internal and external design requirements for print and online media.
Key accountabilities

  • Deliver the creative layout and design of internal and external printed and digital materials, including publications, brochures, banners, posters, infographics, and web and social media graphics.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the Department's visual brand guidelines.
  • Branding development for DTF agencies as required, including logo development and brand application across digital and print media
  • Assist with formatting and desktop publishing services for DTF and relevant entity documents and publications, including policies, fact sheets and other internal publications.
  • Assist with the production of the annual State of Victoria Budget Papers and financial reports as required with set structures and layout (Word and Excel).
  • Assembling and management of photo library, including all permissions, for State Budget.
  • Design and format PowerPoint documents, charts and graphs including infographics to present material in an engaging way.
  • Liaise with graphic design personnel in other departments to keep up to date with developments and best practice in government communications.
  • Liaise with external providers and project manage design requirements from end-to-end when required.
  • Provide specialist graphic design production advice to department employees, proactively initiating enhancements to communication outputs.
  • Oversee work schedule and contributing to strategic business planning.
  • Performing other duties as directed by the manager and Chief Communications Officer as required by the business.
